Adventure Time

You know that feeling when you just need to get out the house? There is only so much that four walls can provide, the sense of adventure is limited. On Sunday evening I got a text from my best friend asking if I was free on Monday. I, of course was, and agreed to go out on a trip somewhere. The only problem being that we didn't know where to go, what to do or what the weather was going to be like.

Monday at 12pm was the start of the adventure. I picked up my friends, De and Tasha, in my beast of a car and we got rolling.

We were about 20 minutes into our journey, we had decided upon our destination for the day, Stourport, when my car started beeping at me. Poop. The beast needed feeding. This turned out to be the the first challenge of the day- Trying to remember whether my car required petrol or diesel, and trying to get the pump working once we were at the petrol station. We aren't the smartest kids on the block, but we know how to work a petrol pump. God however, had already decided that he would challenge our life skills, as the pump would only supply me with 10p worth with every squeeze for about 3 minutes. Another 5 (more like 10) minutes later, with all 3 of us out of the car after trying to work the pump and intoxicated with petrol fumes, I had filled the car. To the annoyance of the woman waiting behind us we drove slowly away from the petrol station. That should teach her for giving someone the stink eye when there were other pumps free that she did not go to.

Another 10 minutes passed and stomachs started grumbling. McDonalds was calling, we could not resist. It was while in the drive through that we experienced a traumatic experience with a pigeon. This pigeon was obviously suicidal and refused to move as I drove along. I couldn't stop driving and so I drove over the pigeon. I tentatively glanced back to see that the pigeon was still alive and walking. So don't judge me internet. I am NOT a pigeon murderer.

After many wrong turns and 3 point turns in side roads, we finally reached Stourport! The sun was shining but the amusement park was pretty dead so we headed toward the closest playground, as all 19 year olds do. There were of course a few children there with their parents and we were definitely the oldest 'children' there. But to be honest I think we were having the most fun. We shall always be kids at heart!

After we played on the playground- climbing on spider webs, running across obstacle courses and spinning round on running wheels and spinning in a cup- we went on a walk across the park that backed the playground. The large green was looking bare and unused so me and Tasha thought it would be a good idea to run and roll around on the grass. Grass stains were obtained.

At the end of our adventure in Stourport we stopped off in the ghost town of an amusement park. Not a single ride was operating, so instead we headed into the arcade and played on the 2p machines. There is something about those machines that I just cant get enough of!

I loved our afternoon out together. We don't get to do it as much as we would like, due to work and other things. BUT whenever we do go out as a threesome it is always an amazing time. I am sure there were moments where De and Tasha were fearing for their lives as I drove around, but all is well, we made it there and back in one piece.

  1. It's so cool to see friends hang out with friends despite not having as much of an opportunity as well as when we all actually went to school together and saw each other everyday! I hope I make the effort like this, as well! The park looks so pretty!

    1. I have lost a lot of friends since moving away, due to lack of effort, mostly on their part, but when people make the effort to stay in touch it shows you who really wants to be part of your life and who your real friends have been all along. xx
